Cartilage Restoration Procedures

Overview

Though there is not a clear delineation between this category of procedures and those in other categories, the principle is to re-establish near-normal cartilage.  As a rule, one can expect improved function with these procedures, though expectations should be limited.  The success of all cartilage restoration procedures requires seveal pre-existing factors; good alignment, a focal cartilage defect, joint space preservation and a functioning meniscus.
