William Nordt, MD
Dr. Nordt is an orthopaedic surgeon and partner in OrthoVirginia. Established in 1936, OrthoVirginia is an esteemed and well-known orthopaedic clinic in Richmond and is one of the larger orthopaedic groups in the country. Dr. Nordt has devoted much of his career to study of cartilage disease of the knee. He has research, publications and product development to his credit. He is the medical director of VCC and is committed to the understanding and implementation of comprehensive care regarding cartilage injuries, which includes basic kinesiology, rehabilitation and nutrition, as well as technological advances in cartilage surgery. Dr. Nordt is a proponent of evidence-based medicine based on extensive data collection and scientific corroboration. Lowery Holthaus, MD
Lowery Holthaus, MD is the director of radiology for VCC. He is a board certified radiologist and specializes in the interpretation of articular cartilage injuries. Dr Holthaus has devoted a large part of his practice to the critical understanding of cartilage injuries and continues to be on the forefront of this sub-specialty. Dr. Holthaus is a strong advocate of patient care and is perennially voted as one of Richmond’s top Radiologists. |

John J. Vollmer, MHS, PA-C
John Vollmer, PA-C is Dr. William Nordt’s Physician Assistant (PA). He has practiced exclusively with Dr. Nordt since moving to Richmond in 1999. He received undergraduate and graduate degrees from Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania where he completed training to become a Physician Assistant. His responsibilities encompass all aspects of patient care in Dr. Nordt’s practice. He coordinates the care of patients pre-operatively and post-operatively in the hospital and the clinical setting. John assists Dr. Nordt with all of his surgical procedures in the operating room. He also takes on an active role in all research projects that Dr. Nordt participates in. |

Maggie Dorsett, MHS, PA-C
Maggie
is a licensed Physician Assistant and is the patient coordinator and research director of VCC. She graduated from the University of Alabama in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She obtained her Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in December 2011. After school, Maggie worked as an orthopedic trauma PA in Macon, GA before relocating to Richmond with her husband. |

Gary Sutton, PT, DPT, MS, SCS, OCS, ATC, CSCS,
Gary is a 1978 graduate of Northwestern University with a Certificate in Physical Therapy. He received a Master of Science degree in Orthopaedic Physical Therapy from the Institute of Graduate Health Sciences in 1982. In 2009 Gary completed the Post-Professional Doctorate of Physical Therapy Program at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. Gary has additional credentials as an ABPTS board-certified Orthopaedic and Sports Physical Therapist, NATA-certified athletic trainer, NSCA-certified strength and conditioning specialist, and APTA-certified clinical instructor. He is also an Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor in the physical therapy program at the Medical College of Virginia – Virginia Commonwealth University. Gary has been the Out-patient Manager at the Sports and Occupational Rehab Center since 1993 |

Susan Blair, M.S.P.T.
Susan is the Clinical Director of Motion Analysis at Biomotion of America. Susan has worked in the specialty of Motion Analysis since 1997 with a concentration in pediatrics since 1994. She has been involved in development and implementation of a computerized three-dimensional functional capacity evaluation since 2007. Research experience includes: Clinical evaluator and consultant for the CINRG Cooperative International Neuromuscular Research Group 2000 to present, Clinical Coordinator and evaluator for research focused on the biomechanics associated with patella-femoral pain and medial knee arthritis, and clinical evaluator for both gait and upper extremity motion analysis case studies. She received her Bachelor of Science from the University of Richmond and her Master of Science in Physical Therapy from the Medical College of Virginia. |

George Masiello
George Masiello is the vice president of engineering for BioMotion of America. He has over 20 years of biomechanical and biomedical experience. He has co-authored over 25 various research publications and presentations. Mr. Masiello developed the hardware and software for the Richmond Quantitative Measurement unit used in numerous clinical drug trials since 1999. He also was director of Information Technology for the Children’s Hospital of Richmond for 5 years while directing the motion analysis laboratory where he was technical director for 16 years. |

Leah Taylor, PT, DPT, CSCS
Leah Taylor graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University- Medical College of Virginia with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy. She has a background in personal training and is a certified strength and conditioning specialist. She has been practicing for 10 years and specializes in analyzing running mechanics and orthotics fabrication. |

Katie Webb, MEd, ATC
Katie is a certified athletic trainer. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education from Butler University in 2001. In 2002 she completed her Master of Education degree in Athletic Training from the University of Virginia. Katie worked as an Associate Instructor and a research assistant for Indiana University’s Athletic Training Education Program. Katie is currently working as a certified athletic trainer at Physical Therapy Solutions, an outpatient physical therapy clinic. She also teaches the sports medicine class for high school students at Hanover High School. |

Janice Shaheen, PT, CNC, CISSN
Janice Shaheen graduated from Northeastern University in 1988 with B.S. in Physical Therapy. She worked as a Sports Medicine Physical Therapist in large hospitals as well as the private orthopedic sector for many years while pursuing her interest in Nutrition and Fitness. Janice has been AFFA certified as a Group Fitness Instructor since 1990. Janice received her Sports Nutrition Consultant Certification from the International Society of Sports Nutrition in 2010 and is also an AFPA Certified Nutrition and Wellness Counselor. |

Becky Maynard, RD
Becky Maynard is a licensed registered dietitian who received her Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from Virginia Tech in 2004. She has worked as an in- and out-patient dietitian with the VCU TEENS program, YMCA Girlforce program, the US Army, and public and private schools in Richmond and Northern VA. While with these groups she has specialized in: adolescent and adult weight management, bariatric and obstetric nutrition, chronic disease management and prevention, community outreach, and counseling. Most recently Becky was appointed as a Wellness Nutritionist working with the New Hanover Regional Medical Center Employee Health and Fitness Center in Wilmington, N.C. |
